Good value on equipment

I was setting up a small new lab and needed a few bigger items without breaking the bank. I requested a quote for a laboratory incubator and some laboratory glassware. Mostly positive experience

Ordered some cell culture media and a new pH meter. The media arrived quickly, within 3 days, and the lot numbers matched what I usually get, which is good for consistency. The pH meter works fine, seems accurate. My only small gripe was trying to find the certificate of analysis for the media on their site; it took a little digging through the product pages. It would be better if it was linked more obviously. Overall though, the products are solid and the pricing was competitive with our contract.

How do Avantor's prices compare to Thermo Fisher or Sigma-Aldrich for common solvents and glassware? Trying to figure out where to get our regular stock.

It's a mixed bag. For bulk orders or if you have a contract, Avantor can be super competitive. For smaller, one-off purchases, sometimes Thermo or Sigma might seem cheaper upfront.
